Howdy, I’m Ian.

I’m an Emergency Management expert for the Department of Energy at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in Berkeley, California.

You can find me elsewhere on the internet @airplaneian.

As a Red Cross volunteer, I work in Government Operations to coordinate mass care preparedness and response with local governments in the Bay Area. I also respond to everyday disasters like home fires and deploy around the US to support large incidents.

Previously I worked with Rhode Island’s Emergency Management Agency as an ESF-6 (Mass Care Coordinator) in the State Emergency Operations Center.

Before I worked full time in Emergency Management, I had a lovely career in TV and corporate and commercial video production.

For fun, I fly airplanes and travel and take a lot of photos along the way. As an aviation OSINT expert, I have consulted for and appeared in several national outlets on the subject of airplane tracking, aviation safety and military aerospace.
